Labor Day

The United States Congress first declared Labor Day to be a federal holiday in 1894. All 50 states celebrate it. It was designed to give the working citizens a day off work, and is now celebrated with parades and picnics. Labor Day is the symbolic end of summer.

I wrote that paragraph because Mom wanted us to find out what Labor Day really was.

We celebrated Labor Day by having a cookout for the folks Dad works with. Not everyone invited was able to come, but we still had a good number of people. We had a pretty good time.
